This page details how to use Adobe Photoshop to create Full-Screen and Lower Third graphics for use with Ross Xpression.
1. From the New Document window in Photoshop, select the Film & Video tab and select the HDTV 1080p
preset.
Ensure that the Preset Details are assigned as follows:
Width: 1920 Pixels
Height: 1080 Pixels
Resolution: 72 Pixels/Inch
Color Mode: RGB Color, 8 bit
Background Contents: Transparent
Advanced Options:
Color Profile: Don’t Color Manage
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels
Click Create.
2. Design your graphic.
Be sure to respect the bright blue Title Safe guide lines by keeping text within the center box.
The blank area represented by a checker board pattern will display as transparent in the control room.
3. When finished, be sure to first go to File > Save As and Save your project as a Photoshop (.PSD) file.
(You will need this file if you want to return to your project and make modifications to text in the future.). This is NOT the file that you will bring to the Control Room.
4. Next, export the image as a .PNG file for use in the control room.
(Note that .PNGs are “flat” files and cannot be modified after saving)
Go to File > Save As
Name your file and select .PNG as the file type.
Click Save and select Large file size for the following window.
You can now copy this .PNG file onto a flash drive and use it on the Xpression CG in the control room.
