How to: Export video for TV3 Playback Server from Premiere Pro

This page will explain the process of exporting media from Premiere Pro to be played back utilizing the TV3 Playback Server. This process can be followed on your personal device, or the various editing computers around campus.

The following steps assume you have already imported the “TV3 Playback Server” preset into your Adobe Premiere Pro export presets list. Please follow THIS GUIDE if you have not done so already.

  1. When you have completed editing your video, Go to File > Export > Media

  2. In the “Export Settings” Window, ensure that “H.264” is selected as the Format, then choose “TV3 Server Playback” for Preset.

Again, if you do not see this preset option, please click here to follow the setup instructions.

  3. Click on the blue lettering next to Location, and choose an appropriate destination folder (such as a folder on your Desktop or personal hard drive).

Then, give your media clip an appropriate name using the following suggested file naming guidelines:

Here is an example of a proper file name, the file is: a Package called “Klein College” that runs in the May 27th show of Temple Update (TU) in the 6th Story of the A Block.

    0527-TU-A06-KleinCollege-PKG.mp4
Pro Tip!: You may have noticed the leading zeros in the file name above (05, and A06). Be aware that the Mac OS Finder and Windows Explorer tend to handle the alphabetical sorting of numbered files differently than the server. Consistently using leading zeros on single-digit numbers will ensure that files sort in the intended run order across all systems. Additionally, refrain from using special characters and symbols in your file names.

  4. Click Export and wait for your video to render.

  5. Repeat for each video clip in your show. Once all your files are exported, ensure they are all on a portable hard drive and bring them to the Studio. Then, follow the guide for transferring clips to the TV3 Server.
